About the Founder....

Janine Sclavunos is the founder and owner of Mind Your Body Training & Wellness, LLC.  

Janine is a mom, wife, certified personal trainer, teacher, group fitness instructor, and health coach.  She started her journey in health and fitness way back in her teen years as a high school athlete as an avid rower. Rowing taught her team work, discipline, and how to persist in reaching goals both on and off the water. In college, she transitioned from high school athlete to a self professed "gym rat" who took group fitness classes and loved all things fitness including cardio, flexibility, and strength training.  

Shortly after graduating college, she started to train and work as a group fitness instructor.  She wanted to help, motivate, and support others to reach their health and fitness goals and taught cycling, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing, strength classes, and more.  

After having her son, she found that she wanted to take on work in the industry at a more personal level and decided to become a health and fitness coach, running online support groups and helping people work towards their health and fitness goals through home workout programs. 

She later decided that she wanted to start her own business as a certified personal trainer to help people who couldn't quite get to the gym due to family, scheduling, or distance, but wanted that one on one support of a fitness professional to give customized support, accountability, motivation, and support on living a healthy lifestyle.

In addition to running her business and spending time with her family, she also works as a business and accounting instructor and loves to read, bake, cook, and shop!

Her journey from struggling to thriving...

Janine always loved going to the gym but always worked out harder, not smarter. She would exercise for at least 1.5-2 hours a day, 6 days a week. She was constantly in an uphill battle to try to restrict calories because she struggled with losing the last 10 pounds even though she worked out so much.  She was tired, frustrated, and felt like she was not getting the results she wanted but did not know what exactly was missing. Growing up, she always loved to read, learn, and develop herself, but was not able to find (actually make) time for reading and personal development as an adult and missed it. 

Once she became pregnant, her "aha" moment came and that was a turning point in her life.  She didn't want to be that mom who was tired, self conscious in pictures always hiding herself (or even worse, not being in pictures with her son at all), and she knew that she wanted to stay in a fitness routine after baby but not bring her unhealthy habits with her. She also knew that time would be at a premium and she didn't want to put her son in MORE childcare at the gym since she and her husband worked all day long already. 

She wanted to show her son that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible. Persistence, perseverance, self discipline and a positive mindset are the keys to success in life and she was determined to show her son that and be the best mom and wife she could be. And so the true mindset shift took place resulting in greater physical changes too.

Her philosophy as a personal trainer...

Janine is a firm believer that is you can do anything you put your mind to, and your mindset can either help you excel or hold you back, especially when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle.  Oftentimes it is our mindset and negative past experiences that hold us back from truly being our BEST, mind, body, and soul.

As a personal trainer, she wants to give you the training experience she always wanted, and one that is fit to give you the tools to achieve your best self, making you feel good from the inside out. Certifications and Experience:

Janine has been active in the health and fitness industry since 2004 when she began as a Group Fitness Instructor and later worked her way up to Health Coach and finally Certified Personal Trainer.

  • Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) since 2016
  • Group Ex Instructor Certification through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of American (AFAA) since 2004
  • Women's Fitness Specialization through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) PENDING- Projected early 2018
